The business
Chopper Landscaping (landscaping company)
John Barrett is the project manager and estimator at Chopper Landscaping. He builds the bids.
In the video, he says Chopper hadn't done a commercial job before this. Commercial jobs are for businesses, not homeowners. He says the company needed a way to stand out.
The problem
Each bid started with a takeoff. A takeoff means measuring the plans to count plants and work out sizes and amounts.
John says that took him 5 to 7 hours of quiet time for each bid. Bobyard's page says that slow pace made it hard to chase bigger commercial jobs.
The bot or tool
Bobyard is AI software that does takeoffs and builds estimates for landscaping bids.
Bobyard's page says it handles odd-shaped spaces better. John says landscapers know that not everything is square, and the tool fills in the gaps.
A bot like it: Bobyard Landscape Bid Takeoff
How they set it up
- John puts the plans for a bid into Bobyard. Its AI does the takeoff and builds the estimate.
- John says the tool lets him estimate accurately and feel comfortable with the number he's going forward with.
- With the time saved, the company has more room to bid on commercial jobs.
Bobyard's video and page don't show a step-by-step setup. These steps are a plain-words summary of what they describe.
The result
- John says Bobyard cut his bid time at least in half, if not more. Bids used to take 5 to 7 hours.
- He says that so far this year Chopper has landed three commercial jobs, almost four.
- He says there will probably be another $350,000 in work that the company couldn't have gotten without Bobyard. That is his own guess, not a final number.
- Bobyard's page says the three jobs came in a matter of months. It also says a fourth big project is already underway and calls the $350,000 "additional revenue."
- John says: "I can think of seven or eight jobs off the top of my head right now that I wish I would have had Bobyard for because it would have saved me hours."
- Hours saved
- At least half of 5 to 7 hours per bid, the estimator says (no weekly total given)
- Money made or saved
- About $350,000 in new work, which the estimator says they'll probably have, Bobyard's video says

How Chopper Landscaping Landed $350k in New Projects with Bobyard
Bobyard's own customer page and video, so these are the seller's numbers. The page shows no date. The video went up on Bobyard's YouTube channel on Sep 10, 2025, so it's more than a year old. We didn't check whether Chopper still uses Bobyard or if the numbers still hold. The $350,000 is the estimator's own guess of what they will probably win. Bobyard doesn't list a price. Its site says pricing depends on the products and add-ons you use, and you book a demo.
